Jacqueline Fernandez joins Habitat for Humanity

Former miss Sri Lanka, Jacqueline Fernandez (Fernandes) has joined the charity Habitat for Humanity as a brand ambassador.

Habitat is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry which offers the impoverished and the displaced a safe and affordable place to live.

In February of 2009, Habitat celebrated the completion of it's 10,000th house in Sri Lanka after 14 years of unwavering commitment to the needy on the island.

"This is my first endorsement. I will be representing Sri Lanka and I thank Habitat for the opportunity it has given me, to make a difference to society. This organisation helps the poor and needy people with shelter. They aren't free homes which are given away but people work in order to collect funds and provide free homes."
