UN Permanent Representative to Sri Lanka Palitha Kohona has been denied entry into Britain

News is trickling in about the British High Commission in Colombo refusing Palitha Kohona entry into Great Britain.

Palitha Kohona is Sri Lanka's outgoing foreign secretary. He was to transit in the UK on his way to serve in his new capacity as Permanent Representative to Sri Lanka at the UN.

Sri Lanka has not denied a British politician, or official, a visa in the past. This move by the UK is almost guaranteed to strain relations between the two nations.
